Castlecroft Primary School

Castlecroft Primary School has been involved in the annual ‘Take One Picture’ project for over 2 decades and were lucky enough to have our Reception 2008 artwork exhibited in the National Gallery.

Every year the staff look forward to being inspired by the chosen painting and to help the children take on a new adventure with the freedom to explore the painting and develop their practical skills through different art techniques.

We focused on this year’s painting, ‘Surprised!’ by Henri Rousseau in our Art Week with immense excitement; studying the foliage, the weather, the environment and a snap shot in a tiger’s life. During the week the children had an opportunity to work with a variety of media including paints, clay, printing, textiles, collage and 3D creations.

The Art Week assembly showcased some exceptionally creative artwork and a hall full of very inspired children.
